A force of 60 newtons is applied to a rope to pull a sled across a horizontal surface at a constant velocity. The rope is at an angle of 30 degrees above the horizontal.

1.Calculate magnitude of the component of the 60N force that is parallel to the horizontal surface.

2. Determine the magnitude of the frictional force acting on the sled.

Horizontal component = 60cos30 N

2) If constant velocity is maintained, Fnet = 0 as a = 0
Thus the frictional force is 60cos30 N

b) The fricitonal force must be = to the Horizontal component in order to maintain a constant velocity. ie. no acceleration means 0 net force for these types of q's... ^ what appianway said is correct...
