Just an exercise book and a pen for each lecture/tutorial? Is that all that is really needed?

If your professors have put lecture notes on the LMS, then bring them.
First week is a pretty simple week.

"880-001 Mind, Brain & Behaviour 1" doesn't have tutes/pracs/labs in the first week.
In case you were wondering, in 880-001 the words "tutorials", "practicals" and "labs" are all used interchangeably.

Number 3 is optional I'd say at the moment but 1 & 2 are a must and:

Yep, the first few weeks are especially important for making friends (5) and also for number 6. After a while, it gets a bit more awkward to go through the whole introduction thing.

Oh, and I almost forgot:
7. Bring your diary. It can be used for number 2 on the list and not to mention it contains pure gold in it for jaffies - the campus(es) map. :o

Lucky I ain't one of them. :D I knew going to VCE revision lectures would pay off one day. Little did I know it wasn't for VCE but for uni. Wtf?

haha I had a third year walk upto me asking if I knew where the old physics building was.
I'm like nope but I got a map! (turns out we were standing in front of it)
Talked for a bit, then she offered to buy me coffee to say thanks... ended up missing 15 mins of my ESD1 lecture :(
