Just completed SAC1, After doing every single question from the textbook (easily), I went into the SAC completely lost and out of time.
I'm confused as to why this happened. This happened with everyone in the classroom, are our students missing something? What do your teachers give you when preparing for a SAC? (We got set revision questions from the textbook)
Also, if I get something like 70%, is there any way to redeem myself and get a respectable study score? (38+)
Thanks. :(

yeh u can still get 38+ for sure...the first sac and getting a low mark really worried you a lot (this happeended to me XD) but for the physcis SAC i'm doing on friday and well its stuff related to our motion prac . so our written up pracs have like the theory in it already so we already have all the formulas and stuff and explainations...
-
Sorry to hear that. I did my SAC earlier and was also a bit rushed for time, though I didn't do all the questions from the textbook. Our SAC was on the pracs we did, so the teacher just checked our prac books to make sure we had everything we needed.
Your SACs will get scaled depending on your mid-year exam mark, I think, so as long as you're ranked alright in an alright cohort it should be fine. (:
-
Thanks for the replies guys.
We didn't do any pracs.... =[
Hopefully I do better on the exam!
-
They might adjust the SAC. That happened with us last year - it was originally out of 45, but they made it out of 40 instead (so any mark of 40+/45 went to 40/40), as it was apparently unreasonable for us get through the majority of the paper. That said, most students scored below 25/40 or something like that...
-
What happens to someone if they score mediocre, in a smart class, but dumb [like maybe only say the physics class performed well] school?
-
had my sac yesterday was out of 84 marks for a 50 minute sac. only 2 people finished. stuff i missed out on was pretty straight forward. fml

similar thing happened at my school. so how much will this effect study scores?
-
Our teacher doesn't use the textbook at all and tells us to look at the textbook in our own time. She's not a textbook teacher, she instead makes up questions for us to do, uses Checkpoints and gives us practice exam papers from, like, Insight and stuff like that. The SAC wasn't hard, but it wasn't easy, either and we all ended up doing pretty well... the lowest mark was a B, I think.
It SHOULDN'T have much of an impact on your study scores if you do well in the exam -- it could just be that your teacher sets insanely hard SACs... some do that. My methods teacher did that last year. To be honest, though, SACs are just a ranking, and it's only the first one, so I wouldn't worry too much if you haven't done well in it.

Just got our results for sac 1. I got 96% (2nd in cohort).
We just had to spin a rubber stopper round our heads, crunch some numbers, and write a report.
-
i have my sac on fridayyy and its linked with the same prac as the one mentioned above^ (i failed at spinning the rubber stopper, i mostly ended up smacking myself in the back of the head when trying to stop it :buck2: )
-
Yeah our results were way off, so I spent nearly the whole report justifying why our results were wrong.
If your trying to work out the relationship between force and frequency maybe this'll help you:
and

(since
)

where the mass and the radius are kept constant, and you can also weigh your mass, measure the radius, then plug in the values to see if your results are correct :)
From my graphs though I ended up with something like

From my graphs though I ended up with something like
we proved f=mv^2 /r :P
our radius one didnt work tho :(
thank you for all that info tho :)

physics sac got back : 19/30 :P damn i suck at physics

What do your teachers give you when preparing for a SAC? (We got set revision questions from the textbook)
For Spesh, the teacher refused to give us practice papers

That sucks... :S

Only 86% =/
I did revision from Checkpoints + Practice Sacs I found here

70something and i did hardcore studying and studyguide for a week >( u did good! :3

^ haha thanks, but it ALL comes down to how wee you do in the Exams/how strong your cohort is (I think)
We (class) were only ever made to do checkpoints (not even textbook q's) and teacher put 1/2 questions from it so yeah. Depends on what your school does and how hard it was etc

Lol 36/40 for Extended Investigation Prac. Lost 1.5 marks for putting "Force = Impulse * Time" into excel instead of "Force = Impulse/Time" >.<
-
Did it alter all of your formulas? If not that is hefty marks to lose for a little typo..
-
Got my motion test sac back, 40/42 and highest in cohort. Extended practical investigation is due on friday which counts for sac marks too so hopefully that goes well too.
-

It may be some little typo, but it caused me to have force values of around 0.1-2.5N when they were meant to be 1000N+
-
Yeah, that's why I asked if it altered your formula's first :P
That's huge discrepancy! Damn. Did those errors pervade your other findings?

Of course ^^, graph shapes were all mucked up lolz
-
We start our EPI in two weeks!
-
Then why'd you only lose 1.5 ?
1500 :P
-
force=impulse * time, remember using that awesome formula in last years unit 2 exam :P
-

LOL I don't remember it like that, I remember it as Fxchange in time= impulse, then just transpose when I need to ;D

Awesome ha? I'll remember to put it on my cheat sheet :P
