Post by: bugmeenot on March 30, 2010, 08:12:24 pm
Is there a required amount of tutes that you have to attend to not fail the subject?

I believe it depends on the subject.

Yes, that's correct.  I know for Introductory Microeconomics and psychology, attendance is marked and goes towards your final mark.  If your attendance isn't up to scratch, then they take marks off you.

i thought the marks relating to tutorial attendance were more based on what u contribute rather than how often u show up?
or is that just monash?

Wow, I didn't realise tutorials were marked on contribution, I've been so intimidated by the guys in my maths tute I only spoke in a tute for the first time last thursday (Thats not an exaggeration, I get nervous/intimidated really easily). Most of my tutes are just working through questions, how do I really contribute in those? Is it enough to just answer the odd question?

again, it's only some subjects that mark you based on contribution. for melbourne uni students I'm pretty sure this is outlined in the subject handbook - I believe it's humanities subjects that probably place a larger emphasis on contribution than others, not entirely sure though.
