does UoM offer that?

1.  Log into your portal.
2.  Click on "Admin".
3.  Under the heading "Managing My Enrolment", there should be a link called "Apply for Leave of Absence".
4.  Click it.

If you haven't started first year first semester, I imagine that you'd have to defer a semester though. I don't think you can take a leave of absence on something you haven't started.

Yeah, she's already started.  I've just clicked on the link and apparently the option to take leave for semester 1 2010 is there even though I've already started my degree.  Huh?

However, the options only go to semester 2 1011, which should be the end of my second year.
