Title: sleep phenomena

The book says they are observable experiences that occur during sleep. Isn't this obviously wrong cos' in night mares there is no indication of the person experiencing a nightmare.

Self-report. After you have one you can report having one.

'Observable' in the sense of 'known to occur (occuring)' rather than actually being watched as it is happening.
