im doing first year of bcomm and i'll be honest i am absolutely clueless about one of the core subjects,qm and 99.99% gona fail since it is a hurdle subject
i heard that u can either do it over summer (i'll be away) or next year as overload,any comments?

If you fail a core requirement for your degree you have to redo that class at some point.

Go to your portal, click on the "Admin" tab, then click "Subject Timetable". Put in the QM subject code, and it will show you when the subject is being run, because as Cthulhu said you must pass it at some point.
It would also be advisable to re-do it as soon as possible, because there are 2nd year subjects that require QM1 (eg QM2, Business Finance if you didn't do Finance 1 etc).

Also, the knowledge will still be fresher in your mind.
Even though you're convinced you don't know a lot about the subject, it's better having a little bit of knowledge than forgetting it all and having to redo it from scratch further down the track.
