What do you guys think about Unit 4 compared to Unit 3?
-
More enjoyable.
-
Relatively the same, I think. Depends on your detailed study - mine was Sound (Piss easy).
-
You kinda get into the deeper more mysterious side of physics. Magnetic fields and early quantum mechanics, some pretty crazy ideas to think about (but also trivialised in the context of vce). I thought sound was a bit of a drag, but that might just be because there's not much to it.
Overall, more enjoyable than unit 3.
-
unit 4 was alright, but a bit abstract without learning the fundamentals, i personally did it for the sake of doing it.
-
lol no chance, i have turned nocturnal.
-
yeh thats actually pretty true, like i woke at 7 pm today planning to study until 9-10 am lol
-
ive been doing this routine since swat voc started, during uni i was still a bit nocturnal (sleep 4-5am wake 2-3pm) but not as bad as now, been studying all the time except for the usual dinner breaks and tutoring lessons.
well actually i wont be studying consecutive tonight coz ill be watching australia in world cup, but other nights should be fine.
-
To be honest, I found unit 3 more interesting with kinematics. Unit 4, as TT said, is more abstract and I guess waves and light aren't my best friends and since we don't get along, we had a hard time in the lead up to the exams and during the exam, we pretty much had a brawl.
-
Unit 4 is all new unfamiliar stuff, I didn't understand very much of it when I read it the first time, whereas Unit 3 is mostly Unit 1/2 Stuff.
-
Is that a bad thing :S
-
We got to play with magnets...but that's boring, I want to study nuclear stuff again, should be unit 4 rather than 1.
I hope this gets more interesting.
The hand rules make me feel un-coordinated :(.
-
nerd !
-
You're all nerds!
-
nerd !
You saying you didn't enjoy the nuclear part of unit 1?
-
You're all nerds!
says the kid who got 44 in physics ? :P haha nah srsly great job with ur mark :)

Nah I did, just joking lol
-
I miss unit 3 :( I dont really enjoy unit 4
-
It is a bit dry within the confines of the course, but these topics, in a rather more free setting, should be infinitely more engaging.
-
i dont get anything... at the moment :(

finally someone in the same boat as me. I cant seem to grasp unit 4. It's too theory based
-
Theory rulesssssssssssssssssssssss! It was the best really! :D lol
-
Im just bored with unit 4 to be honest... hopefully interactions of light and matter might be a bit better than magnetism
-

Which theory in particular? Physics is based on numerous theories :P
-
Speaking of theory, I think it's amazing how little VCE Physics (and, for that matter, Chemistry) emphasises the importance of experiment. After all, it is how every discovery is made and every hypothesis tested, it is the foundation of physics.
-
So I'm seeing a physiotherapist tomorrow for my shoulder. Damn right hand rules!
No, this is not a joke >:(
-
is anyone else finding electromagnetivity way harder than unit 3? I got a really shit teacher and basically taught myself unit 3 and I think I killed the exam but I am not really getting this topic....
I have the same feeling as you, like i can do most of the problems correctly but i dont feel i have an understand parralel to that of unit 3.
-
I like it, I feel that it makes sense (lenz's law etc) and is quite an interesting topic to study.
No cool questions about skateboarders failing to make jumps though :-[

Yea it is intresting but i feel the way we learn it is pretty shit.

vce is boring dude.. its like so guided..
everyone above 40 (even 35) knows the course..
i prefer to delve into my own self orientated research..
vce = least mistakes on the day
Precisely.
