Title: Melb Uni Open Day 2010
Post by: AzureBlue on July 07, 2010, 10:54:44 am
The open day website is finally up: http://openday.unimelb.edu.au/ :)
So many course information sessions and stuff, sounds exciting!

Are the residential colleges usually open for tours etc... on open day?

Yep all the colleges are all hands on deck for Open Day. They usually have shuttle buses available to transport people to the colleges which are a greater distance from the uni campus like Whitley and International House etc.

Lol; can you still get scholarships to colleges if you're awesome and not a school leaver?

Ok thanks :) So are they normally open 10am-4pm - so you just go in and visit or do they have scheduled tours, because it doesn't really specify this clearly on the website?  I love the colleges at Melbourne, Newman's really pretty. Despite the fact that travel is very convenient for me to Melb Uni, I would like to apply for a non-residential college membership so I can experience a little bit of college life at least, as well as get to know people from interstate and get help from some extra tutorials if need be. :D Just made my itinerary on the website this morning... so many sessions :) Actuarial/Eco/Finance/Law information sessions etc. should be helpful.

Each College would have scheduled tours. They are pretty laid back kind of places so you wouldn't probably need to get there for a scheduled one. Newman is nice- I have friends living there at the moment.

Oh wow that's way fancier than the page from last year. The colleges are pretty friendly places, they should have some sections available to the public on open day for you look at.

Sigh, I suppose this means I should finally get around to emailing my coordinator :S

Lol yeah, the colleges are great, I had a tour of St Mary's once as Newman wasn't open, and I thought that it was awesome... What was the website like last year? I didn't think about going (too early to think about uni that much). Are the student-guided tours good?

Also, just like to say, the massive JOURNALIST text that is making up a part of that head.
Appropriate, when this Open Day includes discussions of how you cancelled that course Melbourne Uni.

I never went to a uni open day for some reason, so if you've already been you probably know all you really need to.

You can major in Media Comm but you can't do an internship which means that the degree is now second rate in comparison to other journalism/media comm degrees.
