Title: Heffernan 06 q 9 in trig

Just wondering why can't we just go:

2/4 = 0.5 then 6/2 = 3 done.

heffernan go through this whooolleee long winded shizz is what i've done magically right or just a shorter way?

did you do 2/4=x/6 so x=3? I did that too

haven't seen the question, but it depends on what logic you're using. We all know you're Godlike at math =P, and the question is would further kids who have never done anything beyond general math be able to apply your logic? or is it beyond them.
saying that, it seems very unlikely.

could you possible post/write the question aswell? -edit- you just did haha

maybe the mark allocation? ie if its 2/3 marks => working out

...that's pretty basic, dunno why hef would go thru alot more than needed. maybe students would struggle to understand ratio's? i dunno, you're right anyway ands its multi choice.

Err well I do it more by *observing the change*. The change is a reduction in 2 so a scale factor change of 2 so the other way is 1/2 then 6/2 = 3. It is exactly the same method but I don't write down a ratio.

A better question Ken is to say that the distance BA is 3. Find AV.

^ haha yea just edited my post again, ratio's is the quickest and simplest way of finding the length AV, lmao don't understand the reasoning to make it more than it is haha
