Post by: Elnino_Gerrard on October 09, 2010, 10:39:09 pm
Question 9 about magnetism where it says explain why PQ  experiences a force?.. I looked at the solutions and i understand the concept of the net magnetic field..But then it says it experiences a force in he direction of the net magnetic field?...Can someone please explain the answert to me? or give me a better one? Please?

that is correct, as the first maxima has a path difference of 0.

its basically like with a compus needle, that is aligned due to the earths magnetic field i.e the force will be in the direction of the net field direction, at least thats how i interpreted it. But to be honest i doubt a quesiton like this will be on VCAA.
