Okey. I'm always confused with this one... WHAT numbers are included in the conventional number subsets... i.e. k is element of C means it occurs in Complex region. I know R is reals. What is included under Z, J and others the might be of importance in this exam?
Thanks for help/
-
N: Natural (R+ integers, may include 0)
J=Z (use Z): Integer (-3, -2, -1, 0, 1 , 2, 3, etc)
Q: Rational (fractions)
R: Real
C: Complex
ie.
most likely we'll only need to use Z and C

Thank-you Jason! :) Very useful.. Another thing, do you know the subset for positive whole numbers excluding zero?
-
Natural numbers (N) usually are R+, but sometimes people include 0, doesn't really matter.
Natural numbers refer to positive integers (1, 2, 3 etc) or non-negative integers (therefore 0, 1, 2, 3) i believe

Thank-you very muchly! In it goes into the summary book.

For your last question, I like to say J+ which is all positive whole numbers excluding zero
