Q3 + 1.5 IQR

Or

Q1 - 1.5 IQR

They are the limits.

If any value is outside these set boundries then it is an outlier.

yeah i know how to go about it by without calc, but how would you do it by CAS?

-put the points into a spreadsheet.
-then boxplot them
-the boxplot will show you if there are any outliers
This method is quicker then using the rules :)

I don't get any outliers either. must be a mistake

Sorry Hye, I forgot to read "CAS" in your question. I skimmed through it.

Okay doing what ORSA said will show you the boxplot. However it wont show outliers.

You have to do Mod Box Plot, and then it will show outliers.

In this question, there isn't any outliers btw, and the solutions are flawed.

Generally the boxplot will show you if there are outliers, doesnt it?

No it doesn't. Have a try, it wont show ALL of them though. (If there are any)

Yeah I'm pretty sure outliers will be shown on the CAS if there are any. In this example, there's definitely no outliers.

Theres even a tick the box function to show outliers so the CAS doesn't lie.. only the question does

It's funny how many stupid errors, TRIAL EXAM COMPANIES make!?!?!?!?
It's as though they never correct their stuff

so how do we get it to show the outliers that dont appear if there are any??
what are the steps?

Well for classpad theres a box that says show outliers and you just tick that, but i'm not sure about the TI-Nspire Cas
