Title: STUPID NEAP OR STUPID ME?
Post by: bar0029 on October 31, 2010, 05:25:53 pm
okay so..

in exam 2 of neap 2010

from question 1...

so part d/ shows the rule and domain for g(x)

for my answer i get x = 1 and x = 4
but they get x = +-1 and +-4
but it doesnt fit in the domain.. can anyone tell me how i am wrong?

all attached :)

yeah i got the same! no clue. i thought you had to restrict the domain or something. the whole exam is ridiculous

dom g o h = dom h = R --> actually it should be R (except) 0 as g o h is not defined at x = 0 lol

No restriction of the domain is required, and the function is defined for all R except 0, as ran h = R+ and dom g = R+ which is what you were referring to

So x = -4, -1, 1, 4.

so dom of g o h is not R+ ?

no it's R except 0

(question said R by mistake)

dom g o h = dom h not dom g
