Title: How do we explain encoding in terms of working memory?

How exactly does working memory encode information for transfer into long-term memory?

Does the central executive manipulate the information so as to create some sort of elaborative rehearsal for retention in LTM to occur?

i dunno if it answers your question but on the IARTV 2008 exam, its got a grid where u fill in the blanks and it says STM: encoding: based on acoustic properties of info. (already filled out for you)
whatever that means ~

That's a bit more advanced than year 12 psych imo. You just need to know what central executive does.
