I thought it was a fair paper. I liked the way they changed DV and IV around. That might catch a lot of people out.
My teacher said it was very "wordy" like the mid year one.
Thoughts?

It was fairly good, missed a few cause im so slow :)
Where was iv dv switched? Most of the wordiness was easy to catch but if i dont remember it maybe i missed it :s
I couldnt answer "give one criticism of retrieval theory"...no idea

I thought the paper was fairly easy compared with some of the past year VCAA papers and trial exams of other companies, just that this paper required you to apply what you knew, thus all the responses were pretty lengthy. So I'm expecting a high cut-off for A+ this time round.
Yeah the IV and DV was sorta switch, but really, you'd be screwed if you don't thoroughly read the questions anyway :P
I reckon the dodgiest questions were:
-the criticism of retrieval failure theory
(I put that even though we are presented with the proper retrieval cues, we may not be able to access the needed memory because of repression, suppresion, amnesia, organic causes of forgetting, etcetcetc.)
-MCQ on the decay theory
(I put the answer that was about repressed memories, but I reckon that one is wrong. The correct one would be the one that says 'explains how information is lost from STM.)
-first SA question on the long-term memory store the professor was testing
(I put episodic memory, but a quite a few people put semantic (because semantic stores names?) and someone told me he just put declarative because it can technically be episodic and semantic...)

For the first SA I just said the whole declaritve system due to they had to have knowage about the class and also they had to have meaning etc... Hope im right.

The first SA, part C I think, what conclusion could the guy make on age and memory, what did everyone put down?
I talked about small sample and the fact that a T-Test wasn't performed therefore no conclusion can be made.

There was no young people as participants. Therefore no baseline and no method of comparison hence the doctor couldn't conclude anything about old age on memory because it didn't have people of various ages as participants to begin with. Also I noted the small sample..

haha. Don't say that! :) I'm sure your explanation was fine. I kinda had a lightbulb moment for ONCE in an exam. I was like OMG OMG OMG NO YOUNG PEOPLE WOOOO haha. I spent like 3 minutes nervously deciding whether I would agree or not with whether a conclusion could be drawn...

I felt pretty confident with all the other stuff so hopefully the mistakes are few and far between, you'll no doubt get that 45+. From VN if we weren't that happy with it imagine how the rest of the state went! Hopefully that bodes well for us :)

I thought it was a fairly challenging exam, but I think if you studied properly you would have found it a breeze!
