Title: Thought on the exam?
Post by: StephenBM on November 12, 2010, 05:48:08 pm
Yo! Just drop in your thought about how you thought the exam was...and possibly a few answers.

Cheers

overall this year business management was a great subject. i thought i'd feel really really happy after the exam, but afterwards, I just kinda felt... empt, sort of? I mean I was really relieved and glad it all ended, of course, but then, then excitement (if u can call it that) leading up to the exam was pretty much gone. I loved the subject, I had a really good teacher.

The exam was good in that the case studies were short and simple, so you didn't have to do alot of reading - less reading, more thinking. I was surprised that kotters, POLC, and skills were not on the exam. overall I think this was a great exam.

Yeah i reckon, I hate roles / skills and kotters . No problem solving or policy steps either. :)

For Q3 I wrote about OM and HRM and talked a little bit about the strategies too
I talked about materials management (talked about ergonomics, sourcing materials from ethical suppliers and put an example too) and training to improve customer satisfaction (through customer service etc.)

Okay, I'm stumped. I did the same as avO for question three - OM and HRM and talked about strategies, but I've been told that by my teachers that that's wrong. I've got two business teachers for the two classes at school, but they've both told me that management functions refers to management roles - being POLC.

Someone wanna clear it up for me, so I can lay my thoughts to rest?

From the study design for AOS1;

"typical management functions in large-scale organisations, including operations, finance, human
resources, marketing, and research and development".

90% of the state, or 90% of the people who answered it.
