Title: Physics Exam Prep
Post by: thushan on May 22, 2011, 08:12:35 am
How are we going with exam prep?

Lol, atm i'm doing trial papers and it's really annoying when you know the content but you still manage to make about 10 marks worth of careless mistakes!

you guys have a cheatsheet right...i think 1 page double sided... have u started or finished that????

I know this is really noob (AND U PROBS DO THIS ALREADY) but I think its good to practice exams with ur cheatsheet so u get familiar with all the stuff on it. (:

I have a motion SAC coming up next week, and we're allowed a one sided cheat sheet for that. So I think I'll start my exam cheat sheet during the weekends, and just dedicate one side to motion...

But yeah, I haven't been doing practice exams with anything other than the given formula sheet :O

Try to do the questions without the cheatsheet so you don't have to reply on it too much. Getting questions wrong are good just as long as you learn and don't make them again. If you get familiar with your cheatsheet, you probably won't need it anyway.

I rmbr our teacher made us write things onto our future cheatsheet as we learn new things so we dont miss out on anything important..
I think its bad to wait till the end cause...it just is....
IMO anyway...I think that if u find something is good for ur cheatsheet write it at the back of ur textbook and if u do that in everyclass u'll have a collection of info...

nah not really, you shouldnt need the cheat sheet to be honest. But different things work for everyone i suppose.
But then again it definately cant hurt preparing your cheat sheet early(unless you spend too long making it of course :P)

I have a fetish for neatness so i made mines super neat...but it was my lifesaver for phrases for semester 2 and their explanations on the stuff we learnt in semester 2 (i forgot what they were...)

I have an idea for the Physics cheat sheet. Explain questions. There are only so many one can ask. However, the examiners are pedantic with 'explain' questions. So put in a formulated answer to all the different possible "explain" questions.

if you've learnt the concepts correctly, shouldnt you be able to deal be justify/explain ones with ease?

Yeah you should be able to, but remember this is VCAA we're talking about ;P: examiners are highly pedantic. What makes sense to us may not be accepted by the examiner.

Explain things like your explain it to little children. Also you might want to go to the assessment reports and use their explanations.

LOL thats why u copy down the explanations given by the VCAA pastpapers and u cant possibily get it wrong...dunno if its good or not but there r some questions that are asked everyyear..those explanation questions so yeh..

lol i was really anxious about how i'm gonna memorise the units for all various things.

then i realised after checking the vcaa exams, that they already put the units in for you...

what a relief :P

Careful with the explain ones when using answers you have prepared earlier.

You can do this as long as you make sure your answer addresses the circumstance. For instance, if Mike and Tom do or hypothesise something say who is right and why they are right and why the other person is wrong. Make sure to throw in their names and other unique relevant specifications of the question.
