do you guys have good or bad feeling about this exam?
im in between but leaning more towards a good feeling. ???
-
I have a bad feeling that extended response will be research but otherwise good feeling.
-
Eh, fairly good at the moment. However, contrary to camo, i want the question to be Research Methods. Because there is way to much ambiguity with an extended response and what is required. Also, it could be testing a really shitty part of the course..
Whereas creating a research hypothesis, identifying IV and DV and other things are easy and will be easier to do under time constraints.
-
Lol, haven't studied for it at all. Chem has been on the agenda all month :)
Looking for a 30 SS just for that 3.0
-
yeah i agree @camo its really not that difficult and believe me you have all your info right there, whereas an essay qs could be anything and like izzykose said it could be some really crap part of psych like the hippocampus and memory or kandel or whatever.
i mean with the stav paper, the question said "if you want to commit to memory, take a nap".........i was like ? i mean if that was an exam question i would have definitely gotten zero.
right now i am practising with part c as i have a list of questions that also have a marking scheme on it and marking myself is pretty hard cause you can literally write heaps of things....and they dont really mention it on the paper so i dont really know how im going.

its the first year of the course
the exam will be easy
the hard part will be beating other students ... having said that ... its psych .. there's alot of people who perform poorly .. trust me i did it last year :)
just keep inmind that the exam will be easy ... I.e ... AVOID silly stupid mistakes and ull do well :D
-
psych exams were so easy in previous years, I mean I think I only lose 1-2 marks for MC.
Did the sample questions, 34/39 (mostly my errors), but the difficulty was far higher, will the exam be similar to that? Because it was FAR harder than previous VCAA exams, at least thats what I am finding
-
Yeah that sample prac exam was hard, and just weird/different :/
how many practice exams have you guys done, ive probably only done about 3-4 so far, wil hopefully get another 5 or so done before the exam because ive only just finished learning everythimg/.
so worried atm :-\
-
I have done about 4-5 2011 exams, most were ok, NEAP and lisachem were pretty hard
and VCAA 2005-2008
Its kind of annoying because the questions in those exams were so repetitive, it was a bit ridiculous TBH.
nearly all o them had the same first 3 questions (MC), and they all had stuff like 2/3 physiological/psychological effects of ASC/sleep deprivation and such for SA
-
yeah the lisachem was hard, except the mc, because of the qs that asked the difference b/w experimentor bias and experiemtor effect :/, i get it now, but come on haha "P, and also frederick bartlett - ebbinghaus question and the qs about loftus - leading question because i hadnt done them yet, or in the case of the frederick bartlett - ebbinghaus question i hadnt even heard of it!
haha yeah i noticed that, especcially the ppsychological/phyisoligcal qs for different SoC.

Disagree completely and I'm surprised no one else has.
The introduction of Section C automatically makes it harder (that's the whole point)
I hope for a cut off of 75 or at least equivalent to 2010 (76.5).
RE: topic - I'm pumped. Psyched...for psych :D
-
The point of introducing a new study design was to increase the degree of difficulty of Psych, so even though its the first year of the new design, it'll be pretty difficult IMO

The exam "type" is harder.
due to the fact its first year of the course .. they will provide long answer questions that you will be able to answer SO EASILY ... .
they will ask basic questions which u can readily answer ... e.g .. describe the different stages of sleep . or something along those lines .... u can easily come up with many many points.
the answers will be "rote learned".
in 2-3 years .. the questions will require more analysis of the question and will require more depth knowledge .. it will be about applying knowledge instead of spitting out definitions.
dont believe me? .. look at last years end of year exam .... so much different to the previous years.
trust me on this one ... I did ALMOST every paper ever made for psych and you start to notice the trends .. ...dont wanna sound arrogant ... but i think i know the course pretty well...
-
Meh differing opinions.

I'm with Liuy on this one though.
-
well i wouldnt mind an extended question about stages of sleep or something thats quite easy to blabber about
-
I kinda agree with matt- I feel as if the ''hardness'' was introduced with the 15 marks by default; and this year they'll be fairly lenient with the degree of question difficulties since it's a new study design. I hope, anyway.
-
I really hope the 15 mark response is not an essay, I hate extending my knowledge! Bring on the research question

too true ..
the PROBLEM is that..
SOOOO many students will find the exam so easy .. they will mark the exam ALOT harder .. and the cut off will be higher ...
im estimating .. 83-85% ...
