I'm aiming for about a 42 in English, but i've gotten 2 O's and 2 HC's so far...how realistic are my chances of getting a 40+ if i keep going the way I'm doing?

What exactly is an O and a HC roughly in terms of letter grades? If HC stands for hardcore, then you're well on your way. Otherwise I have no idea how to interpret those.

Haha sorry, not sure what the letter equivalents are but the order of the categories from highest to lowest is:
O = outstanding (usually about 17/20 - 20/20)
HC = highly commendable
C = competent
M = marginal
BS = below standard

I'm wondering the same thing. For unit 3 I got 90/100 and I'm fairly confident that I'm in the top 10 of my school, which is about 80-100 kids. I'm hoping for about a 40-43 too. Any thoughts?

Try and aim for a higher overall score for both Unit 4 and your exam. A 90/100 is around a low A+ and generally speaking, if you have 3 low A+s (for each of the GA's) then you're looking at around 38/39. So try and get a bit higher and you're sure to get at least a 40.:P

What exam marks out of ten for each essay are you looking at to get a 40 and a 45?
-
8/10 in all the three essays i guess?

Is that for a 40 or a 45? :)

3 8/10s in the exam will get you 48/60, which is a low A+ and should equate to a 40 if SACs and rankings are on par. I would imagine something around a 55/60 would be needed for a 45, but I'm not too sure about this.

Haha ... that is exactly what I was thinking. Hard core? ahahah
And to contribute to the actual purpose of this topic - SACs are very important, but the Exam is the deal breaker for a lot of students! Work hard on your Unit 4 texts, and start preparing early for the exam - thats what I am planning to do!!!

Haha yeah it is strange at my school we only use the O-HC-C-M-BS score system, we don't get told our exact scores or what it is in terms of A+ etc.

I was in a similar position last year. I was about rank 7 or 8 out of 70 with 90/100 and 93/100 for SACs and got a 44. I got 54/60 on the exam which is a mid a+. don't give up hope!
