Hello VN members! I am interested to know what people here did for their compulsory work experience (usually undertaken in year 10). What did you do on your work experience? How was it? Did you regret doing what you did? How much did you get paid? Would you recommend it to anyone?
I am also not aware whether a similar thread such as this has been started. If so, I give complete permission for VN members to ignore this one.

I did work experience at Target for a week, cause I couldn't be bothered finding anywhere decent, I got $5 a day.
It was boring.
-
we did it in yr 10. it was supposed to go for one school week (5 days) because apparently it was getting hard for people to find work at two separate places. but we actually only worked 4 days because they chose to have it on the week of the queens birthday (my school is so S-M-R-T)
i did my work experience at monash uni, clayton and worked in the different areas of the libraries. i spent one day in the main admin. place, one day in the multimedia library, one day in the IT place and one in the law library and matheson library. i didn't really enjoy any of it but the IT department was by far the worst. the guy told me to "search the uni library catalogue for books you know!" while he went to a meeting. so i bummed around on the internet and read the book that i had fortunately brought with me. i was paid $20. worst.shit.ever.

I'm currently in year 10 and I recently had my work experience (late June I think) but I am thinking of doing another one for next year. I wasn't very happy with the one I did.

My two friends ended up bored shitless @ Big W.
They only lasted about 2 weeks into their semester-long once-a-week placement.

Did mine at Credit Suisse in the city. Didn't really do much but was fairly interesting to see how the workplace operated.
Only paid $5 per day also..

I did mine at my old Primary school, in a year 3 art class. Spent most of the time making Mr Men models, and giving the smartest kids in the class some tricky addition problems.
-
Flew up to Sydney to go to Fox Sports News. Was on TV a few times, met NRL player Johnathan Thurston, had a week of eating whatever I wanted because family friend I stayed with was awesome. Really enjoyed it, obviously. :D

that's not considered as work experience; it's known as community service.

Lol... classic excuse.
Interstate for a marriage or a funeral works just as well.
...kinda falls through though when your manager spots you at the local shopping centre :-X

i never did mine... i got moved up after everyone finished their work experience in yr 10 :(
-
never did it also,
apparently the yr before us was really bad..
bad reputation was given for the school.
and they were punished for it,
and so were we by not having the chance to do it.
LOL
