Hi everyone, this is the prompt: "Our individual identity is determined by what others think of us"
My text is: "Bombshells"
So can anyone give me some ideas of the main points to get this started? Also how would i structure this kind of essay? Thanks very much in advance.
-
Possible structure:
Intro
How individual identity is determined by what others think of us in general, using examples from your lfe/real world
How individual identity is determined by what others think of us, using Bomshells examples
How individual identity isn't determined by what others think of us, examples from real world and/or Bombshells
Conclusion
Bombshells Ideas:
Theresa McTerry Monologue: wants everyone to see her as a wife because she wants that identity
Former Star Chick (cbf finding Bombshells to find name lol): identity based on being a star, without her stardom she loses identity.
Winsome Webster: seen as a widow but actually more to her
Child Shaft Girl: identitfies as a star so wants to be seen one.

"Our individual identity is determined by what others think of us"
Hm. I think you can approach this in more than one way.
Does it mean
a) Our identity is a result of what others perceive of us. eg. if someone thinks you're hypocritical, then you ARE hypocritical
OR
b) Our identify is a manipulated/changed by what others think of us. eg. if someone thinks you're hypocritical, then you will TURN INTO someone who is hypocritical
I think you can approach it both ways even in the same essay. Is our identity what we perceive of ourselves? Or is it what others perceive of us? Or is it both?

Now that's an interesting way of thinking. I ve always been thinking the second option. But the first sound pretty good as well. Mind elaborating some more and show me some examples from bombshells if possible? Thanks

Sorry I don't study Bombshells. I only did Witness and Catcher in the Rye. If you have done either of these I could try relate it to them.
-
Oh ok. We watched Witness as well but teacher said it was just to give us some idea and we can't directly relate to it in our written works. Anyways thanks very much for the help, btw how can i change karma? There doesn't seem to be an obvious button that i can click.
-
No problem. You can only change karma after you have posted 50 posts. So 44 to go lol.
-
Oh ok. Lol guess i can't add karma for you atm then. Thanks again.

Lol. It's alright. Appreciation is just as good. Good luck with your essay
