anyone have some sort of guide/set of rules to follow when working out what graph to use for certain variables?

What do you mean? Be specific with your question
-
I dont exactly understand what u mean...
Hmm...do u mean when you have certain variables, which is the best way the display the data, ie stemplot, histogram

yeah, thats it
-
the essentials text book does. If u have it, take a look in there
-
ah yeah, just found it.
hmm, hasnt got a graph for when the IV is numerical and DV is categorical though (if thats possible)
-
Ok, i'll just do a brief summary, coz i gotta go to sleep now...:P
Back to back Stem Plots- Used to display bivariate data: Numerical and Categorical (2 variables)
Parallel boxplots- Numerical and Categorical (more than 2 variables)
Percentaged Segmented Barchart- Used with 2 categorial variables showing the percentage of each.
Scatterplot- Two numerical variables
Two Way Frequency Tables- Used with 2 categorial variables
Histogram- If given class interval and frequency
Dot plot- Used with discrete data

Get to bed guys.
-
Hahaa yeah...i really should :P
But so should you!!!
