My camera has stopped working. It still takes pictures, but the display screen is black and the pictures show up as black. You can still see photos that I've previously taken from the memory card.
Has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it?
Oh yeah, the model is a Canon Digital Ixus V3 and our warranty has sadly expired.

So new photos are black as well (and the old ones are fine)? That's how I'm reading it.
It's possible that the CCD sensor inside has gone kaput. Unfortunately, if this is the case, you'll have to purchase a new one (repair is probably not economical).
If you are getting pictures, but have a black screen, the LCD is dead. Unless you can live with it, the above applies too.

Thanks excalibur, I'll just get a new one, but do you know how the thingos died?

Some kind of sharp impact coupled wear and tear I would say (in some ratio to each other).

Return it to the shop you purchased it from :D

This was already resolved =/...I call necromancy!
The warranty is void, no store will take it back gfb. Read OP again!
