Post by: studyhound on January 06, 2009, 10:51:26 pm
gday VNers,
last year i did pe studies and was going alright on my sacs throughout the year however got a low A on the exam, got 39
im pretty pissed off atm, a mate suggested repeating it in yr12, maybe im being parranoyed but still
what is you opinion on repeating a subject? eg. will it detract form my other subjects? are the spare periods very useful?

Is that 6 including the subject you want to repeat. If not then, thats a massive workload. 6 subjects is also still a big workload. Its upto you, and how much study your willing to put into every subject.

if its 6 total, i wouldn't recommend it. do good in your 5 subjects this year, PE will prlly be your 5\6th subject so it doesn't make a substantial impact on your enter

this

i was going through the same thing, thinking of repeating accounting (lol) but it's really pointless because you can work hard enough to make it an increment subject (i didn't - but i don't regret not doing it again).

Agreed, don't do it. Focus on your remaining subjects.

Well, it depends, since he got 39, its a really good score already. Saying that, even if he repeats it, he wouldnt have to do a lot of work throughout the year for it. If you have the confidence that you will exceed the 40 mark indefinitely than I say go for it.

But also, saying that, I did 6 subjects last year. To my mistake, lol. 5 at school so I had spares and 1 outside. 6 subjects is really difficult. You won't feel the stress immediately but when Sacs starts and dates sort of collocate together, you will feel the pinch.

Even when you get past that and all the homework. You will be pressed hard to spread your time equally and evenly between your 6 subjects when exams rolls around.

It is up to you, do you feel you can withstand the work load and try to make it into your top 4? Or would you rather concentrate on your other 5 subjects and leave your PE as a possible increment?

*As an after thought. I would also like to say I was extremely stupid to do a total of 7 subjects. When the calculation of my enter came around, my 40 for IT was excluded. LOL

yeah i think thas a good point you make, my general feeling now is to not repeat at just work hard to make pe my 5th or 6th subject,
it would be a disaster to repeat and the not pull a score in the 40's, although i think i could do this with hard work, ultimatly its not really worth it.

I repeated P.E, I got 36 for the first year I did it, a year interrupted by MANY things... including a teacher who didn't come to class everr....
And did it again last year and achieved a 47.
Because I loved the subject, I found it was easy to repeat it, enjoying the content and loving the teacher that I had.
Only repeat if you are genuinely interested, not just because you want to get a better score. As long as you will stay motivated and work hard consistently through the year, then it's probably worth it.

39 is a perfectly good score
youll do better doing only 5 subjects you dont need 6 50s to do well
