To get an idea of what to expect, have a look at the study design (from page 18 onwards). It gives a pretty good description of each SAC and what skills you will need to successfully complete it.

As for preparation. Obviously, read the book and pay attention to class. Also make notes as you see appropriate. It wouldn't hurt to do practice essays, especially close readings.

Lot's of practice, multiple readings and PAY ATTENTION in class.

Generally there is one Close Analysis SAC, one creative SAC, one Adaptations and Transformations SAC, one Views and Values SAC and one Alternative Viewpoints SAC.
