Do we need to know about these
? Are they an eg of an enzyme that doesn't end in ase ?

Nope, don't worry about ribozymes. Put extremely simply, they're a type of RNA molecule that can perform pseudo-enzymatic functions.

EDIT: Mind you, certain specific ribozymes such as RNA polymerase are pretty important, but you can just refer to them as enzymes in VCE.

EDIT 2: Screw it, just don't worry about 'em :P

Very interesting. I had no idea that RNA polymerase wasn't a protein.

It is, it's an enzyme. I'm just stupid :)

EDIT: Just realised why I got confused; RNA polymerase synthesises catalytic RNA (i.e. ribozymes), amongst many other things. Derp.
