Shouldn't that be something thats set by the guidelines?
Seriously unfair on those that get two harsh markers as opposed to someone that gets two lenient markers.

One person could walk away with 78/80.
Another could walk away with 80/80.

But they both had the SAME exact answers. (assuming they both left out the sq units and got everything else right)

For exam 1, one examiner gave 40/40 and the other gave 39/40 --> so the score is actually 79/80 = 39.5/40

Ahh I get ya.
I understand this kind of approach for an english essay or something;
but I don't see how there can be any discrepancies when marking mathematics.

I got a half mark lost as well on exam 1. Basically, one examiner liked my explanation for the very last question on VCAA 2009 Exam 1, and the other didn't =/

That was a bitch of a question.. if only I had known what the approximation formula meant and how it calculated its approximate answers back then :(
