Discussion - UMAT 2009

Morning session's finished. Afternoon one's starting soon.

Discuss how you went.

Section one was long? It always is.
Pick the middle in section three was frustrating? Yeah, has to be.

If you are paranoid that special consideration people/people who get to sit it later/etc (NOT SURE IF THEY EXIST) will read answers and regugitate then obviously don't post.

lol, section 1 is pretty long, but suprisingly I managed to finish on the dot. Not sure how many of the answers I chose were right though. Fingers crossed.

man was that long.
section one was long as you guessed. had to guess the last 5-10 questions.
did the same thing with section two aswell, but it wasn't as bad as section one.
section three wasn't as bad as i thought it would be, only pick the middle was a btch, the rest was okay.

I somehow managed to finish section 1 20 mins early, I found the majority of the questions alright, there a few I wasn't 100% sure about which I changed, hopefully I won't regret that.

Section 2 was a sticking point early on in my prep, I think I did more practise for this then the other sections, and I was able to answer all the questions, and I had just over 10 mins to spare, but there are still a couple I'm not entirely sure about.

Section 3 early on was alright, but I think I worked too slowly to begin with and ended up making "educated" guesses for about 5 questions as I basically ran out of time, I found this one the trickiest overall and most time consuming.

Overall, I think I did alright, I was a lot better for time than I thought I'd be, and I was able to avoid any big oversights in the first two sections.

Was happy with the type of questions in section 1 - not that many logic games :)

Section 2 - I was using the clock at the front as I didn't bring my own but the supervisor lady was sitting right in front of it - I couldn't pace myself properly so at times I'd try to speed up my reading which may have affected my results...still finished in time though

Section 3 - disliked the 'middle in sequence' questions...

i thought this thread would be exploding by now....

section 1 - way too long, ran out of time, guessed the last 10.

section 2 - was my strength, finished comfortably.

section 3 - middle of the sequence was a bitch.

overall pretty good, but i reckon those essays in section 2 were much longer than the practice ones they mailed to me... The logic section i thought was a bit straight forward and simple, especially the last page.

If you are paranoid that special consideration people/people who get to sit it later/etc (NOT SURE IF THEY EXIST) will read answers and regugitate then obviously don't post.

This is one of the major reasons. Mostly that people beleive that there are still others who are yet to sit the UMAT (special consideration people ect) and that they don't want to give anything away. As much as you'd like to deny being selfish; giving people an advantage by discussing questions would decrease our change of getting into med/dent/pharm/physio/optom ect... And because your UMAT is a relative to how others went..it wouldn't be wise to.

It's the same concept as VCE. Would you come out and openly dicuss questions on the math methods exam knowing that there are a few people who are yet to sit it?

As for discussion; head over to MSO. They've got several pages worth.

Note: I do not know for sure that there are people who are yet to sit the exam; nor am i saying that ,if there are special consideration cases, they will recieve the SAME exam..all i'm saying is it's a general perception held amongst most.

EDIT:
Quote from: UMAT
3.7 Alternative Test Date
Provision has been made for candidates who are prevented from attending the test on 29 July, as a result of a genuine and unanticipated illness or misadventure, to sit the test on one alternative date. This provision exists for cases of demonstrable difficulty; it is not available for a candidate who, for example, fails to register on time or is suffering from a cold or other minor illness on the test day. In order to be considered for testing on the alternative date a candidate must:
where possible, notify ACER in writing (email or fax are >>acceptable) at least one week before the 29 July test date; and
provide clear and detailed medical justification from a >>registered health professional. A medical certificate stating ‘unspecified illness’ is NOT sufficient.
OR
in the case of significant unanticipated illness on 29 July, >>provide written evidence to ACER no later than 3 working days after the test date, and provide a statutory declaration or other evidence acceptable to the UMAT Office outlining the circumstances preventing attendance on the main test date. A medical certificate stating ‘unspecified illness’ is NOT sufficient.

The Alternative Test Date in 2009 will be scheduled within two weeks of the main test date. This will be the only alternative test date available in 2009 and is not negotiable.

The Alternative Test Date will only be available at major centres.
