I am wondering do they take marks off if you look nervous, kinda shaking, embarrassed from your own nervousness in the interview?

Lots of people have told me that the interviewers like strong personalities, as opposed to easy-going or polite.
I'm not sure how true that is though...
Remember, remember the 5th of November

2010 - MM CAS (47) - Cisco 1+2 (pass :P)
2011 - Eng - Phys - Chem - Spesh - Latin - UMAT

IMO, just be yourself. There's no point trying to act or try to be something you're not. I'm sure they'll be able to figure you out pretty quickly. I think they would expect you to be nervous when you go in, 95% of people would be. Though, keep in mind, doctors are supposed to be very cool. I'm sure you are trained become like that or you learn it with experience. But, being able to handle stress and nervousness naturally is an excellent advantage.

I suggest you start thinking about that "Why do you want to be a doctor?" question. Reply with something that will make you stand out against everyone else. Not just.. "I want to help people".

Also, you have to be organized to give a reply to whatever they ask.. Eg, if you say that "I want to help people" they could reply with;
"There are many other courses out there, that would enable you to help people, so why med?"
It'll be good if you can give a complete answer so they can't really say much.

Don't worry, everyone will have some degree of nervousness. One silly thing I did during the interview at UAdel:
- they gave a slip of paper with a scenario on it. Then they asked me follow up questions and by the end of it I looked at my hands and noticed a tiny square of paper, folded up multiple times. I had no recollection of folding it. And I had to hand it back to them so I tried to open it out and flatten it. I was horrified because I thought it was physical evidence of my stress, but hey, I still got an adelaide unbonded offer. So it was no big deal. Unless you are rendered incapable of speaking by your nervousness, I think they understand your position and will try to judge more on the content of your answers.

Definitely agree with this.

Also, anyone can say "I like helping people," and there's nothing wrong with stating it that way too BUT ensure you add something to show why you want to help people this particular way, or some personal experiences, or whatever to support it.

Also, even if you already explain your reasons to show why not any other career, they may still ask you again anyway. So yes, have a very good think about your reasons.

The interview format this year onwards at Monash will be the MMI (Multiple Mini Interview?). This was confirmed by a med student on the campus, and by a friend who attended Open day last year.

Good luck guys!!

Having sat the UMAT last year, I understand how much pressure you guys will be feeling at the present.

Nevertheless, you'll do well so don't worry!
