120 driving hours

I finally finished mine, and still 6 weeks till my 18th so I can be happy with that.

But anyone else think it's a ridiculous amount? I know it improves driver safety but seriously, I found no improvement in my driving between 60 and 120. Setting a minimum of 80 would have been plenty adequate.

If you want to get your license as soon as possible (like I do) it comes to over an hour a week, for 2 years, both of which are the VCE years.

Luckily I have 2 parents who both have cars. I shudder to think how those with less than that can possibly manage.

Could it be a tactic used by the government to keep possibly immature (though debatable) teenagers from getting their P's as soon as they turn 18?  As you have to get 120 hours including 10 hours of night driving, for a lot of people, as you can see on this forum, it prolongs the time they need to drive.  Hence a normal teenager would be getting their P's at around 18.5-19 years old?

Passenger restrictions are gay. Plus it only encourages drink driving. I mean what do the govt expect? a 1:1 ratio of 18 (18.5-19) year olds drinking when they go out? pffft
