I know it's frustrating sometimes superflya. For question 96, I'm not too sure what you mean by "smaller black section switching ends," but maybe it will be helpful the way they derived B. First step, like you said increment of 45 degrees each turn. Second step, the thick, continuous back 'block' always keeps going to opposite ends throughout the sequence. However, in pictures 2 and 4, it is not expressed fully since only the tips are shown. Since that is not what the question is dealing with, we can ignore it. Take 1st pic to 3rd pic. Clearly, the black block has changed ends (as, if it didn't, it would be on the right hand side). Similarly, from 3rd to 5th, the block must change back (as, if it wasn't the case, the thick block would be option E which is wrong since if you follow the colour through, E is what you naturally get from third sequence, but then it goes to opposite end).
