people that cheat in sacs reeaallllly piss me off. some girl who's in my legal and psychology class has cheated in two of her sacs this semester, and it's quite infuriating. I normally don't care about cheating, but cheating in a sac is immoral and it messes up the entire system. if she beats me in either sac i will be quite furious. I don't like people messing with sac rankings  :knuppel2:

Hahah so true

I spend 10+ hours memorising an essay word for word... the guys in the other english classes have teachers that sit there reading newspaper or something just bring their essay in their pencil case or in their pocket. My teacher walks around staring down everyone so no one can cheat

Yeah, but if the said people do badly on the exam then their SAC marks get scaled down anyway. But if they're permitted to cheat during the exam, yes, we have a system screw-up...

But doesn't ranking play a large role in determining study score too?

It's so crap when people cheat. Last English SAC the guy sitting next to me brought in a pre-typed essay and copied it out for the SAC. Bullshit!!!!!
But these people will fail when it comes to the exam.
Do people on hear generally tell teachers when they see cheating or not??
I don't. But I can't explain why I don't

Yeah, there's nothing you can really do about it anyway... they're only cheating themselves cause they'll be screwed for the exam.

but rankings determine your sac score which means they could end up with a better sac score.. unless as mentioned there is a safeguard against this by them getting scaled down but I can't say I know the system too well

Yes but if they screw up the exam, they're sac scores are moderated down.

If you see them cheating during the SAC and it's something the teacher could catch them red-handed for (e.g. hidden notes), then call it for sure. The rest of the non-cheating class would be glad you did it (If the whole class is cheating though... then perhaps you oughta stay quiet and report it later, unless you wanna get beat up. Or better yet, cheat as well). And while the cheater would be pissed at you, it's only because they got owned by the hammer of justice. If the SAC is over and you have no proof though, then don't do it.

It's as much the teacher's fault for letting the student cheat as it is the student's for cheating. If your teacher is sleeping on the job then report the teacher to someone higher up. But whatever you do, don't let your teacher know you did it.

it's almost not worth reporting it. my school (being public and in a renowned dodgy area) is pretty lax cheating wise. the girl will probably drop out of school anyway (doesn't turn up to class enough) but it just irritates me that people act like that. i'd prefer not to cheat, not as a matter of principle (or is it principal... guess I better lower my hopes for english haha) as preparing for sacs is also preparation for the exam. and being legitimate is better (Y)

it also irritates me how at the start of the year the teachers insist how important deadlines are. one girl in my english class didn't do a sac until the end of term and still passed. some people in my class still haven't done their first unit 4 sac so I have to wait to get my results. people who aren't committed to school just shouldn't even bother going. people in my classes still actually whine about getting homework and rejoice when the teacher isn't there... it's VCE for f***s sake!

If they cheat resulting in a higher SAC ranking than you and then screw up their exam it is YOUR SAC ranking that could be moderated down.

If it's happening consistently or across a range of subjects I think you should mention it to the teacher/VCE coordinator.
