I'm not sure if that does fix the keeping issue, though. For mine, Nevill should definitely be playing.

I think what it comes down to is can Bancroft score enough runs to offset any errors he makes? On recent form, you'd have to say he can. There are probably better keepers but I don't think being the best keeper should warrant a spot in the team if said keeper is only going to average 22.

What's your full side, J41?

1. D Warner
2. M Renshaw
3. U Khawaja
4. S Smith
5. P Handscomb
6. C Bancroft
7. P Nevill
8. M Starc
9. J Hazlewood
10. N Lyon
11. J Bird

But I think Cummins will play over Bird, and quite possibly Cartwright over Nevill.

Any specific reasons for choosing Bird over Cummins?

i would definietely love to see J.Bird playing.

As for bancroft I don't like the idea of wicketkeeping and opening the batting especially in a long high pressure series.

I like Tim Paine, but that's a freakin' staggering decision.

David Warner = Good
Cameron Bancroft = Good
Usman Khawaja= Good
Steve Smith (c)= Good
Peter Handscomb = Good
Shaun Marsh = bad - Getting too old, should have given it to Renshaw to strengthen the middle order
Tim Paine = bad - he hasn't played in ages and has done jack.
Mitchell Starc = Good
Pat Cummins = Good
Josh Hazlewood = Good
Nathan Lyon =  Good
Chadd Sayers= Good
Jackson Bird.= Good

^I'm not sure I'd be playing Renshaw in an unfamiliar position considering his form. I still would have backed him opening, though.

Re: Paine, he's been one of my favourite players for like a decade, and I honestly think he would have had a long and successful career if not for injuries. But like, he averages 29.12 at First Class level, and has scored a single First Class century (pretty sure he wasn't keeping then, either).

Nevill, comparatively, averages 39.85, has scored nine First Class centuries, and is IMO a better keeper than Paine (considering the latter post-injuries).

Weird from my perspective.

EDIT: Not to say that Paine hasn't been successful, but I had him pencilled in for a long Test career at one stage.

Random thought: I reckon Shiv Chanderpaul is/was pretty underrated.

True. But that's Australia's dilemma. We don't have any good keepers that can bat (that aren't too old).

Renshaw may be a little cooked and might need a break.

Your thoughts on our no.6?All rounder vs specialist batter? We 4 bowlers should be enough for ODI's or test cricket, ... so maybe specialist batter?

Haven't read through the previous few pages, but what's everyone's thoughts on the Ben Stokes situation?
I'm praying that he plays :D

I certainly want him to play, but I'm pretty sure that's highly unlikely now. His inclusion I think would sorta spice things up, and he does get pretty fired up at times.

The India Vs Sri Lanka test match that just ended was probably one of the best I've seen in recent times. A lot of overs and time was lost, but somehow a result seemed to be on the cards. It was amazing to see how at one point, it seemed as if only a draw or a Sri Lankan win was possible, but thanks to a quality hundred from Kohli, India was a whisker away from an incredible win. :D

Where's Maxi???
This would be my team:
Warner, Bancroft, Khawaja, Smith (c), Handscomb, Maxwell, Nevill, Starc, Cummins, Lyon, Hazlewood.
If we want a batsman at 6 rather than an allrounder, don't forget that Maxi has a first class average of 40+, but my other option would be Jake Lehmann. Definitely not very happy with the Paine and Marsh selections.
[EDIT: Also it cannot be forgotten that Maxi is (a) the incumbent no. 6, and (b) the best fielder in Australia.]
