A good bowler who can't keep his temper... Sorry, I can respect him a little for his bowling, but not in any other way. Like many athletes.

"Best test bowler" that can't keep their celebrations away from the opposition. People need to learn the rules of demerit points as well, there is tons of people complaining on the cricket ig page saying that icc and Australians are just being bias and racist as Rabada copped a 2 match ban and Warner or Starc didn't get something similar.

So rabada's ban for the "bump" was overturned and punishment reduced as it was found to unintentional. Logically you'd think Smith should face the same result since they were both involved in something that was "non-deliberate and minor contact".

As for the demerit points it's definitely a flawed system esepcially if Warner doesn't get a ban for his actions.

As for the rest of the series no rabada ban was probably a great result for both teams.

Smith should be suspended for a long time. Horrible.

So as soon as the ball actually starts moving and the pitch is not a flat road smith cant score and has to resort to cheating. Says a lot about his mental weakness and obviously not the type to be captain.

Youd think it would be a long ban but given its aus he'll probs get away with it tbh.

I seriously don't know what would have been going through their heads. Need to throw the book at him IMO.

Smith has gotten away with it sooo many times!!
It's really really bad...
In the conference, he said "Aw...it was unfortunate that we got caught on camera" HOW HORRIBLE IS THIS !! Still doesn't feel that slap in the face, that man.
And thought he could get away with employing someone new to do all this? He better have another thought coming up....
 >:( >:(
Just feel sorry for Australian cricketers in the past who've carried forward a 'clean record' legacy and now these guys are ruining the reputation
He should definitely resign to deter future captains and players as well.
And how sad, other team members didn't stop him!!
Definitely would have accepted and tolerated a loss from Australia, but not this kind of sportsmanship...  >:(

I mean, Smith's not sorry about what he tried to get away with - he's sorry that they got caught.

And how sad, other team members didn't stop him!!
I'm not surprised about this though - I don't think the culture of the Australian cricket team is particularly great. To stand up against the leadership group and senior players wouldn't be an easy thing for any player.

I don't think he should resign but take a little break after this series but he's right to claim responsibility

If he doesn't resign, he should be suspended indefinitely.

hmmm don't you think that it's suspicious that everytime that it is his "first time cheating" he gets caught LOL

he obviously doesn't regret his actions nor have any shame as he did say he would not stand down

A lengthy punishment is definitely required. It was premeditated cheating and not just because of the actions but also using bancroft as a patsy and coming out quickly to blame the "leadership group".

Nice to see Tim Paine getting the captaincy for the rest of the test (hopefully that means he wasn't involved) should be getting smith going fine leg to fine leg
