^^ why not both?? xD
Bad idea, he'll have too big a workload and won't be able to maintain his show (its a crap show though) and other commitments to the media and his family
IMO what has already been said is correct. All the criticism is coming in a period in which Australia doesn't need it. It's only when Australia is losing that the media attacks individual players (i.e. Ponting, North etc). When everything was rosy, nothing bad was ever written about the team. In a way the criticism was expected, as it was inevitable that Australia was going to cop some flack - the dominance of Australia in cricket was bound to end with key players moving on and all.
The media had to find someone to blame and IMO are over-reacting - i.e. trying to get Warne to come out of retirement. In any case, when Australia starts winning again and players regain some form, the whole fanfare of this will be forgotten.
That's a bit true, the media are blowing things out of proportion and making things worse than they really are. Not helping at all.
However, disagree with the two examples though. North is not international standard, such criticism was also given to Gillespie or Kasprowitz during the 'glory era', and they were dropped despite still performing better than North (comparatively). Ponting is good when he has good people around him and he is winning. When the chips are down, Ponting goes to 'psychologically' attack his opposition via the media, its not helping the team or his own performance on-field.
But the essence of your argument was correct, the media is going too far.
