Anyone planning to go? I'm hoping to get tickets for Day 3 or 4.

I'm MCC member so I might go to all five!
Nice! I wanted to sign up but the waiting list is like 18 years or something.

Hopefully the Aussies do well because I'm going with a pommy friend who used to be part of the Barmy Army.

My parents signed me up two days after I was born... I got the membership only 4 months ago!

I also hope the Aussies get on top, I don't want to be an a train home with 1000 disappointed, angry and mildly drunk true-blue Aussies supporters... (safety first ;) )

Some mates reckon the Siddle will be dropped for sure :/
Wouldn't be surprised. I think it'll be either Siddle or Smith to make way for Hauritz, who has been on fire with the bat and ball for NSW. Aussies have enough pace bowlers as it is.

I don't think Hauritz is coming back for this one. Beer is a chance, but I'm going with a four-prong pace attack on a greenish wicket (lots of bounce).

hauritz wont come back at all, sif cricket australia will play someone who has come out and said they dont expect to play for them and sold his stuff at a garage sale!

i hope we dont change our line up, clarke and smith have both said they will bowl if need be, i think by playing smith, it gives him the chance to improve, which is what we need and its siddles home crowd , he will fire up :)

Agree with that, except Clarke bowling is unlikely, with his back injury. He probably said it just to make it more of a reason to keep him in the side (his form is poor atm).

What happened when Clarke last bowled... didn't he get a hat-trick against India a few years back... and subsequently win us the match? :P

If only he could do that more often when bowling.

Didn't Glenn McGrath make a 50?

That was a pure fluke and if i'm not mistaken, one of those wickets was actually not-out after replays. It wasn't a hat-trick either, but pretty close ;)

But if Clarke wins us the match, I won't be complaining  ;D

Smith will have a big workload next match if he isn't dropped.

I really want to see Smith have a ball. Warne has said that he is pretty decent, so it'll be interesting to see how he goes.

Clarke can bowl 2-3 overs and maybe buy a wicket. TBH if he doesn't get a wicket within the first two overs he normally doesn't get one at all.

I'm more worried about the SCG match where Swann can rip through us....

+1

+2, and literally as well

The likely squads:

Australia (probable)
1 Shane Watson, 2 Phillip Hughes, 3 Ricky Ponting (capt), 4 Michael Clarke, 5 Michael Hussey, 6 Steven Smith, 7 Brad Haddin (wk), 8 Mitchell Johnson, 9 Ryan Harris, 10 Michael Beer, 11 Ben Hilfenhaus.

England (probable)
1 Andrew Strauss (capt), 2 Alastair Cook, 3 Jonathan Trott, 4 Kevin Pietersen, 5 Paul Collingwood, 6 Ian Bell, 7 Matt Prior (wk), 8 Tim Bresnan, 9 Graeme Swann, 10 Chris Tremlett, 11 James Anderson

Any comments? How will england do without Finn and Broad? Especially on a greenish wicket?
