dhoni is a silly shunt. He hasn't got the balls to captain tests. The team has carried him through all of his achievment. He only avergages 35 with the bat in tests and his glovework is techinically quite poor.
He's better than Haddin, haddin cant hold onto half of the catches!
and yes, the team has carried him through all the achievment. the captain is meant to lead the team, not be the most prolific run scorer. and the funny thing is, before, everyone commended his captaincy, after losing 6 games abroad, its totally changed. i dont think thats fair.
Uhh....ok?
Point is, in the end India have lost the series. They won the world cup, yea, but they also lost 4-0 in England.
But you have to remember the amount of money that is being lost as well.
I'll put it into perspective. Micheal Clarke, earns maybe 1-2 mil a year? Compared to Dhoni, who earns close to 42 mil( ads, ipl, test cricket). If Australia loose, they havent got much to loose; while Dhoni and his team have not just the hopes of their entire country, but a big portion of wealth too. Ratings that show the test criket match in India have stooped so low, that the television company are loosing millions of dollars as each day of test cricket goes on.
Yes Dhoni, Laxman and Sehwag are going to be under criticism unless they dont perform. Why? because its not just about cricket, its the money behind it as well. India's board system pretty much control the ICC (see their decision on the drs system this test series) and so will be less willing to offer their team to playing other countries.
Yes, I do agree that all cricket teams have their rough patches, but in the case with India, there is much more at stake than wickets.
so you're saying, this whole saga is soooo bad, because indian cricket is losing money? we should drop some players, cause indian cricket is losing money?
okay, well put this into perspective. most likely, the amount of money being lost, is probably nothing in comparison to their revenues..
so when sehwag makes a big score, itll be fine? moneys all good?
sorry, but i don't think that's rational at all. why? because that makes it sound like the whole thing is for money. test cricket was designed to be played, not watched. 21st cenutry, times have changed, but that doesn't mean you bring down a team cause their losing money for their country. if anything, their losing their status, the recognition and respect they have.
i think people are criticising the cricket being played, not the money being lost.
if sehwag, laxman and dhoni fire up and play some great games, and on the other hand, dravid, sachin and gambhir play some woeful games, the tables will turn. inevitably.
the decision on DRS was not because BCCI has full control. it was because ICC gives the two playing nations a decision , and if one team backs out, both have to. BCCI said no. Cricket australia said yes, that means it cant be used.
When the BCCI comes out and says that they don't care about losing because they can always win at home, that should tell you everything you need to know about the quality of the Indian cricket team
BCCI does not reflect indian cricket at ALL. think of bcci has your school board. do they participate at all? no. they just fund, govern and yeah, they don't build up anything of what makes up a cricket team.
Indian cricket team, do care that they're losing. reports and interviews suggest that, evidently. bcci mightn't, but thats okay, cause bcci have nothing to do with the real cricket side of things. '
