Michael Clarke has called for consistency on the ICC's Decision Review System (DRS) after the BCCI refused to allow its use in the upcoming Test series in Australia. Earlier this year, the ICC made the use of the DRS mandatory in Tests and ODIs, but three months later reversed its decision and went back to the rule that the boards of both countries must agree for it to be used in a series

http://www.espncricinfo.com/australia-v-india-2011/content/story/546381.html

does that do much justice? it wasn't originally mandatory. it was a rule that icc changed, and then went back to.

and india toured england in august, so its probably likely that this all happened before england as well. so i dont think it was the bcci that pressured them into changing the rule back.

I think that ICC gives the decision to the playing nations' boards. if one disagrees, then so be it. im not sure if it was the case of, icc wanted it, aussies wanted it, bcci said no, so they dont use it at all.. i have a feeling it was 1 against 1, so to be fair, they didnt use it... :s

You can think this all you want, but it doesn't make it true...
You realise the DRS was originally mandatory and then the ICC backflipped after the BCCI put pressure on them...

Of course they're not literally the team, but their comments are a pretty great representation here...

but indian players have not said that. so you can't just say that whatever bcci says is what comes out of the dressing room.

Read this and then tell me what you think of the DRS.

This is not some biased indian media writer either.

the drs has significant problems with it.

I fully support uses of some aspects of it. BUt others are a bit suspect.

And why do you think they reversed it?
DRS isn't perfect but it's not exactly complete guesswork either. It's still preferable to "no idea" in the situations where you get two noises or a player swipes his pad/the ground/

yeah I think using the third umpire in terms of camera, and slow motions is good.

Hotspot is sometimes reliable, but fails under certain conditions, as shown by the above article between england and pakistan.

hawkeye is the most unreliable. Experts have agreed that some cases it predicts the ball to do things that are incomprehensible. And it can be affected by shadows.

Aus to win. Although hopefully not by an innings again, I want the test to reach the 5th day. Hilf to get 10 wickets, and Tendulkar a century.

Marsh hasn't had a good series. Yet another fail for him.

Turning into a repeat of Australia's first innings in the second test. Despite supporting Australia, I'm hoping for a collapse for the good of the test match.
