Pedofile Attacks re-occuring.

Have any of you in the last couple of days come across people changing their profile pictures on Facebook to their childhood cartoon hero?
Well today, it was found out that the people who created this 'trend' were a group of pedofiles who where trying to lure children. It was said on the news
that they chose this trend so they can easily identify who is a kid?

Lol, thoughts?

I don't think it was ever on the news. Nor does it mean anything even if it was; since when the hell was the news credible? I already thought that message was a hoax the first time I read it as it doesn't even make sense and Google seems to confirm it's a hoax. Classic internet trolling.

EDIT: Yes, I do see the irony of me not being convinced by the news and then seemingly being convinced by Google. But it's more my own judgement here at play, and my own judgement says this rumour is stupid.

Did you actually see it on the news? If yes what channel was the news on? People [idiots] will believe anything if enough people say it.

Like I heard today that changing your facebook profile picture to a picture of tits will convince the secret US government to release a cure for cancer and tell the truth about 9/11. It must be true because it was on the news.

The actual accusation was that apparently it's easier to be accepted by children on Facebook if you have a cartoon profile picture. Irrespective of the fact that there's not exactly many children on Facebook, it's stupid because it would be easier for them to do this if they didn't turn it into a fad and actually did it just themselves. Having everyone do it means nothing's changed in terms of how children perceive anyone who adds them.

^^Lol, ok I misunderstood. Still just as sceptical as you pointed out, if someone is going to accept people they don't know as friends, as long as your profile pic doesn't look like the stereotypical pedo they will accept you.
