Okay, so im trying to find relationsips using the calculator and after entering values into STAT, my workbook only tells me to go to LinReg(ax+b) and then have L3 and L2 as locations.
How the heck do I do this?
Hopefully somebody knows what I'm talking about and assist me!
Ok, if you're using the TI-84 or TI-84 Plus, these are the instructions.
When you say you're "trying to find relationships", I assume you're trying to find the Correlation Coefficient. After you enter your data into STAT, the basic steps to finding the correlation are:
1. STAT
2. -> [CALC]
3. press "4" [linReg(ax+b)]
4. ENTER
Now, when you're workbook says have L3 and L2 as locations I
think it assumes you've entered your data in STAT, into lists 2 and 3 and
not 1 and 2. If you have entered your data in lists 2 and 3 (x and y respectively), then after step 3 above, press 2ND, L2, COMMA, 2ND, L3 and this will make the calculator look in the appropriate columns to find the data.
If however, you've just entered your data into lists 1 and 2, don't bother adding anything after step 3 above because the default is to look in lists 1 and 2. So, basically, if you've just entered your data in lists 1 and 2, ignore what you have in your workbook.
Hopefully this is what you were asking, if not just ingore this post.
