From first glance, I can't actually see this equation possibly being balanced. I might have some flaw in logic here, but it seems like there's always going to be an excess of carbon on the left side of the equation which you can't possible balance out. Are you sure you copied it down correctly?

is what he meant (where X is nitrogen, most likely)
