Doesn't FNCE10001 only require one lecture per week? "Two hours of lectures... per week"
https://handbook.unimelb.edu.au/view/2016/FNCE10001
It says each lecture is 2 hours long here: https://sws.unimelb.edu.au/2016/Reports/List.aspx?objects=FNCE10001&weeks=1-52&days=1-7&periods=1-56&template=module_by_group_list
(Correct me if I'm wrong)

I think you are looking at the summer semester where they have a 2 hour lecture. In semester it is two 1-hour lectures per week. I can't get a link but use https://sws.unimelb.edu.au/2016 and make sure you set the Period to Semester 1.

Hey guys, the interview i'm attending for an unpaid internship has asked me to provide an academic transcript.
Does this mean i have to order a transcript (which costs $40 o_o) or can i just print out the statement of recent results on the unimelb portal

edit: this is my penultimate year of bcomm

The statement of results is an unofficial document so if its an internship, it would probably require some formal form of evidence. And also, the statement of results doesn't have the university logo so it may not be accepted. I think your best option would be to order the transcript...might wanna ask the interviewers just to be sure :) good luck!

I've been using my unofficial statement of results for a few applications now and haven't had any problems with it. I can't say whether it'll be fine in your specific case. I would probably ask if you wanted to be definitely sure.

Speaking of internships, I've noticed many programs charge a service fee for training, is this the deal with unpaid internships?
Or should i find one that doesn't have a service fee?

Hey guys,

Do you recommend doing tutorials after lectures, or does it not matter which order they are in?

E.g. I have two finance lectures, one on tuesday and one on thursday. Because of this should I do the tutorial on friday, or is it best to do it anytime?

Also, thanks heaps to Lauren and Steven for answering my last question about the lecture location!

tutorials are based on the previous weeks lectures so having monday tutorials means that the content from the previous week will be the freshest in your memory, but also means you will have to attend uni even if you had a big weekend and cbf getting out of bed.
the choice is yours

Sorry to be such a pain,

but do you guys know whether the Calculus 1 & 2 courses have lecture recordings with audio and video?

Every monday, wednesday, and friday the only thing on my schedule is a 1 hour calculus lecture. To come to uni on those days for this one lecture would cost me about 9 hours of time (time spent traveling to and from uni) and about $400 in transport fees. So would it be wise to skip these lectures and watch them at home?

Also, is 3 back to back one-hour lectures -> 1 hour break -> 2 two-hour back to back tutorials per day feasible? or will it just be overwhelming?

And lastly, can undergrads doing b.com full time get a student public transport pass?

Thanks so much for the help everyone :)

Can't help you with the Calc stuff, but

a) Skip them. If they're recorded, that is. If not, try and put some other classes on those days if you know you're going to attend anyway (i.e. maybe take some of the heat of your 3 x lectures + 2 x tutorial day). Travel times are a killer, and if you're making the pilgrimage in and out every day just for that one class, you'll end up tiring yourself out, not to mention feeling frustrated that you're wasting so much time in transit when you could've just had a day off to work or chill.

b) back-to-back lectures are fine; unless you're doing some super-intensive subjects, attending lectures is a fairly passive activity, often. Plus you have the option of taking a break if they're recorded. Having tutes in the afternoon can be a bit of a drainer though, though this'll depend on your subjects. And if doing this on a Tues/Thurs means that you get a day off before/afterwards, then you can take that time to recover and just have one full day of uni.

In my view, the ideal timetable would just be two full days of back-to-back classes with a one hour lunch break, giving you three extra days off, and it sounds like that's (almost) the situation you're in :)

c) Yep, provided you're doing 3 or more subjects per semester, you qualify as a 'full time student' and you'll be able to apply for a Concession Card. You've got till the end of Feb to sort that out though. Might add an explanation of this to the Enrolment thread later too...

Last year Calculus 2 was not recorded at all in sem1. I heard they record it in Semester 2 but I'm not sure if they still do that.

They were both recorded last year, Calc 1 (Sem 1) and Calc 2 (Sem 2). However, from what I hear, Calc 1 has pretty much always been recorded, but calc 2 isn't in semester 1, but sometimes is in semester 2. And yes, audio+video
