Sorry to be such a pain,
but do you guys know whether the Calculus 1 & 2 courses have lecture recordings with audio and video?
Every monday, wednesday, and friday the only thing on my schedule is a 1 hour calculus lecture. To come to uni on those days for this one lecture would cost me about 9 hours of time (time spent traveling to and from uni) and about $400 in transport fees. So would it be wise to skip these lectures and watch them at home?
Also, is 3 back to back one-hour lectures -> 1 hour break -> 2 two-hour back to back tutorials per day feasible? or will it just be overwhelming?
And lastly, can undergrads doing b.com full time get a student public transport pass?
Thanks so much for the help everyone
Can't help you with the Calc stuff, but
a) Skip them. If they're recorded, that is. If not, try and put some other classes on those days if you know you're going to attend anyway (i.e. maybe take some of the heat of your 3 x lectures + 2 x tutorial day). Travel times are a killer, and if you're making the pilgrimage in and out every day just for that one class, you'll end up tiring yourself out, not to mention feeling frustrated that you're wasting so much time in transit when you could've just had a day off to work or chill.
b) back-to-back lectures are fine; unless you're doing some super-intensive subjects, attending lectures is a fairly passive activity, often. Plus you have the option of taking a break if they're recorded. Having tutes in the afternoon can be a bit of a drainer though, though this'll depend on your subjects. And if doing this on a Tues/Thurs means that you get a day off before/afterwards, then you can take that time to recover and just have one full day of uni.
In my view, the ideal timetable would just be two full days of back-to-back classes with a one hour lunch break, giving you three extra days off, and it sounds like that's (almost) the situation you're in

c) Yep, provided you're doing 3 or more subjects per semester, you qualify as a 'full time student' and you'll be able to apply for a Concession Card. You've got till the end of Feb to sort that out though. Might add an explanation of this to the Enrolment thread later too...
