I definitely remember having a buffer for EDDA. Think it was like 20 marks or something.

I've heard that in the past, but I'm not sure. I've also heard that the EDDA exam has a buffer, and our lecturer sent us all a rather assertive email that there won't be a buffer for our exam, and that there's never been a buffer in the EDDA exam before. So confused. :S

Meanwhile my Italian exam was pretty cruisy as usual. As I've said before, if you're looking for a language breadth, look no further!

We had a buffer of 10 marks last semester but if you don't maybe it might be an easier exam! And good to know!

Definitely one for EDDA semester 1 last year with Ray. 100/120 was set as 100%.

Grr... >_< Do you think there's anything I can do? I wouldn't really have power to do anything if he said there's no buffer and left it at that, but the fact that he said there has never been a buffer, which is wrong, tells me that he is misinformed and may have made his decision based on that premise. It isn't terribly respectful (or useful) for me to say "but others have told me there has been a buffer" in response. :/

EDIT: I contacted a student representative and asked her to take up the matter. We'll see what happens.

Your student reps are relatively impotent when it comes to dealing with these things. You could discuss it with the BSS or with the student centre, or you could contact the lecturer yourself to clarify.

Procrastinating by looking breadth subjects again.

Does anyone know why Intensive Ancient Greek 1 is only available as breadth for BBiomed as a Level 1 subject (CLAS10022) and not 2 or 3 (CLAS20035 and CLAS30045)? The level 2/3 versions are only available for Music, Environments, or Commerce students.
Sounds dodgy to me. I'd message the subject coordinator.

Meanwhile, Techniques was torturous. God that's a big exam for two hours...

The techniques exam is/was super time pressuring. I'm pretty sure it's how Amber gets a decent spread.

(Leon uses his exam to do the same thing in advanced techniques.)

PhD 2016-??? Melbourne

Second year done, time has just flown by. I remember O-week like it was yesterday & now to think about majors and what to do after third year. For everyone still studying for exams, hang in there it'll be over soon!

Not sure why that's the case, but it's been like that for a few years. I had to do it as a level 1. I don't think it's "acceptable" as a second or third for other degrees apparently.

She's bound to get it. I liked it as an exam; it was fair, but it was definitely tough.

What are you hoping to get out of this? I mean, there's not a lot of leverage when you're complaining about not being given free marks and this close to exam marking, it's pretty unlikely anything is going to change (assuming there's no bonus given).

There is nothing I can do; it's just a shame our group isn't getting the same treatment as all the others because our new lecturer appears to be misinformed. Sorry if my annoyance seems unjustified, I can see how that could be coming across. As always, my main focus is to try and do my best so that I don't need those buffer marks! EDDA has been a bit of a struggle for me this semester but hopefully hard work pays off. :)
