Hope Anatomy and HSF went well guys!!!

I have a question for 3rd year Anat kids out there. Which subject ANAT30007/8 was better in terms of content/organisation etc?
Im tossing up between taking one of them - but going to have to change all my subjects cause don't really want to be taken 4X year 3 subjects :(

Hey scribs... serious question. I actually can do Vector Calculus & Differential Equations instead of a couple of Cell/Dev Bio or Biochem subjects next year.  Even though it will put me in epic struggle town, I'm worried about my crappy maths abilities and want to improve.  Do you reckon I should take them? I'm thinking yes.... even though the GPA will take a hit....
theres not much point taking vc, most of it will be familiar/the same as from eng math.
Differential equations is probably unlike any other math subject you'll have taken before because it's taught by Barry. Everything he does is very rigorous, so if you want to kinda of see that side of math, by all means go for it. but like, tbh I don't think you really need that level of understanding for engineering. Most of what he says just goes over my head anyways hahaha;;;
I'm getting the best of both world I guess, cause I get to do quite a bit of both math and biochem, but I'd definitely say that I feel like the stuff I'm learning in biochem is more relevant to what I want to do than math. Like, the stuff we do in math is way beyond what you need for engineering, and I don't see myself ever using the majority of what im learning. Realistically, I think it would've been a lot more useful for me to have learned computing rather than math. BUT ITS TOO LATE IM TOO FAR IN ALREADY.

For engineering though, eng maths is supposed to be a good mix of the important stuff from vector calculus and differential equations with an engineering focus, AND it's only one maths subject instead of two, so there's that. I haven't taken the subject so maybe someone who has can confirm, though I know nobody takes both eng math and VC+DE's
Yep, Eng Maths is a combination of Vector Calculus, Differential Equations and some Real Analysis thrown in for good measure. Most either go with Eng Maths or do VC+DE+(Maybe)RA, but not both.

There's not much point in doing both pathways either... you learn the (nearly) same things. Also, the uni stops you from doing so:
  • You cannot gain credit for both Eng Maths and DE.
  • You cannot enrol in Eng Maths after having completed VC.
  • You cannot enrol concurrently in Eng Maths and VC.
  • You can enrol in VC after having done Eng Maths.

In my case, I did Eng Maths to free up space for other subjects.

I think BasicAcid asked what others have picked as science electives - I'm eyeing off an Electrical Systems major, my science electives have all been Physiology (1st year Biology, 2nd year Human Phys+RBP, and I'll probs do 3rd year Muscle+Exercise). Yeah... weird, eh? :P

The way DE is taught is VERY different from the eng math is taught though. like, you'll definitely not be sitting there seeing the same stuff for the whole time. .___.

Sooooo.....Barry makes the subject DE, which sounds very applied into something very theoretical/pure? Lol.

OK, so does anyone have any recommendations for a really easy breadth that will take up as little time as possible, ideally without too much (any) essay writing and preferably in the arts department (For lower HECS).

Making Movies 1. One 2 hour lecture per week and that's it. Piss easy assessment.

Ahah, after mistakenly telling a supervisor that someone was sitting where my seat number last week, today in the reprophysiology exam I told a supervisor that I didn't have an MCQ answer sheet (it wasn't visible on the table at the time). Then, I looked at the backpage of my exam booklet and there it was, the MCQ answer sheet attached. Can't wait to see what thing I stupidly do next week.

Making Movies 1. One 2 hour lecture per week and that's it. Piss easy assessment.

As part of the assessment "A sequence of images that tell a story (maximum of 10 images). Due Week 6. (50%)"
I'm pretty sure this subject belongs in primary school.

El, I'm pretty sure I saw you in the exam hall for German today o_o Was your exam in Wilson Hall at 4 pm?

@Making Movies: For that assignment, my friend took photos that showed a Uno tower being knocked down and its creators getting revenge on the person who knocked it over by throwing water on them. The set of photos got her a 95.
(It was fun to throw water on someone in the name of academia, though!)

Haha, that would have been me- probably looking all disheveled and exhausted. I'm always the one to be recognized and fail to notice others in my surroundings lol. I didn't know there was another subject being held at the same time :O
