HI,

Is a bachelor of commerce (with engineering breadth subjects) at UoM, a "just as good" pathway into master of engineering as, say, a bachelor of environments or science at UoM?

thanks :)

No. If you want to get a master of engineering, you may have to take a Batchelor of Fine Arts, transfer into Arts/Law inter-state, do a 3 year course there, transfer back into Photography, and finally after a few more years, transfer to your desired course. But the choice is yours. Such is life.

Yeah it's fine, it's probably the equivalent to a Commerce/Engineering double degree at Monash/RMIT/Latrobe(?)
vce: english, methods, spesh, chemistry, physics, geography.

What do you mean by just as good??

With a B.Comm, you'll do the same core subjects as someone else who has gone through something like a B.Sci, but they will get to do quite a few extra electives within their course.

that's what i'm not sure about....I've asked some guys doing it and they've told me that you don't do as many core engineering subjects as bch of science/environments, in bc of commerce, but have to take up all the breadth subjects for extra maths studies or something like that...

Ive thought it over, and ill probs stick with bch of environments...

thanks for the thoughts

yeah, that's not true. b.sci people will still have to do the same maths (linear algebra, calc 2) and science subjects as a b.comm person will do. i'm not sure about b. enviro tho...gl!

nup they don't. which is pretty interesting. doing chemical eng through commerce, you have to do the basic chemistry subjects...whilst for mech and civil, you don't have to do the basic physics subjects. which is a little weird imo. sorry, i prob should have mentioned that it my last post...it's a bit of a generalization.
