Calorimetry question xD

Hi guys, can anyone explain to me why the temperature measured by the thermometer in an actual experiment is higher than the calculated value. For example, the actual heat of combustion of coal is much higher in reality than the calculated value. I am aware of the efficiency and the limitations of the calorimeter, but i cannot get my head around the concept. Thanks guys
