Would sound diffract to a greater extent if the ratio is closer to one or higher than one

what ratio? you mean wavelength/slit width ?? then the larger the ratio, the greater the extent of diffraction

your question is misleading though, the ratio can be both close to one and higher than one at the same time...

anyway, the answer would be higher than one
