I entered a polynomial equation with two unknown variables and typed solved for which the equation is < 8000 into my TI-89
and now its is stuck for 30 mins during a trial exam aswell  :P

Does anyone know how to unfreeze it without deleting the applications?

I'm not sure about the TI-89, but I have the nspire and I just press the 'on' button.

Yeah I tried that but it didn't work.

EDIT: It's now been 2 hours and 15 mins and counting until it last froze.

Any help would be profoundly appreciated.

Oh you have to take your batteries out, take a screw driver, undo the screw near the top of the battery compartment to take out the backup battery as well, if that's taken out, leave it for a minute, and put everything back in :)

Or if that doesn't work, you'll have to do a hard reset, so put everything back in place - get someone to help you out here, what you need to do is hold down these 4 buttons holding down LEFT, RIGHT, 2ND and ON as you (or someone else) puts the last battery into the calculator :)
