Some of these exam q's are so frustrating! >:(

Here's one from insight 2010 (and there's about 5 q's from there that are F****D, they even put in a parallel circuit asking you to find resistances of globes! Is that even on the design??! so over it)..

anyways, see attached:

Do you count the central maximum as a wavelength?
I did 3 x ..

No, the central one is n=0

Unit 3 is assumed knowledge for Unit 4. The transmission questions from last years exam (or maybe the year before) required you to know about parallel and series circuits, and how resistances add up. We are provided with the total resistance for parallel and series formulas on the formula sheet for the exam.

The central maximum has a zero path difference.

edit: Just looked at that resistance question... that is kind of odd. The VCAA exams never asked for you to calculate resistance directly, you needed to use them to do the calculations to find out power, voltage or something like that.

No, the central one is n=0

so the answer is wrong? I didn't count the central as one...

Yeah, the answer would be wrong :) I'm 100% sure of that, there's a lot of mistakes in the Insight solutions for Physics that particular year...I think this is Insight? :P

ye i thought so.....the worrying thing is that the insight mistakes don't even look like mistakes!! bloody misleading - i nearly changed my cheat sheet to include the central as one :S

Btw, there's a question in that relating to consumption of power of the light globes in Electric Power, that's also a mistake, I asked my teacher about it and he said that I was right

The ridiculous amount of mistakes in trial exam solutions are starting to make me believe that they do it on purpose to challenge us.

Surely a company that is based around creating these exams (and have been doing so for years), and then sells them at a premium price (and would be making an absolute killing), would surely not make so many simple errors...

As a guide students should try to do between 10-15 practice exams to achieve the best results.
This means you get used to all kinds of questions!

NEAP 07 Exam 2 solutions are a joke.
